MAYE ADVISES GOVT ON JOB CREATION
Maye advises government on job creation
The Maye of yorubaland and the Chancellor of the Oduduwa University, Ipetumode, Osun State, Dr. Ramon Adegoke Adedoyin, has advised the Federal Government to create jobs for graduating students and reduce expenses on political appointees.
Speaking to reporters in Ife, the educationist wondered why the cost of governance in the country is so high at the expense of education, health and other social amenities.
According to the chancellor, rather than spending money on political appointees, the government should reduce the number of not only political office holders, but also their allowances.
He advised that the educational curricular of Nigeria's schools should be modified to tilt towards technical education.
Adedoyin proposed that emphasis should be on technical education which should be about 70%, while entrepreneurial education should be made compulsory in schools .
As a way of helping indigent students, he advised the government to make educational loans available to graduates after leaving universities. “In order not to abuse this gesture, the loan should be properly monitored by the government.”
He revealed that the Oduduwa University had started the programme of giving loans to its graduates.
